For nearly 24 hours between late Thursday night and Friday, the city of Boston and the surrounding community were riveted by the pursuit of two suspects in connection with Monday’s Boston Marathon bombings.
That search finally came to fruition around 9 p.m. Friday night, when a combination of local, state and federal law enforcement officers apprehended the second suspect in Watertown, allowing Boston to breathe a collective sigh of relief.
The lockdown of the area resulted in the postponements of both the Bruins and Red Sox games originally scheduled for Friday night, and numerous athletes took to Twitter after the situation was resolved to express their appreciation to the police, fire and emergency personnel that worked around the clock to keep their community safe.
