The Miami Dolphins have hired Chicago Bears offensive coordinator Adam Gase as their new head coach.
Miami announced the news Saturday morning.
The Dolphins were expected to contend for the AFC East title this season, but they struggled to a 6-10 record. They fired head coach Joe Philbin on Oct. 5 and replaced him with Dan Campbell. Miami last made the NFL playoffs in 2008, its only postseason appearance since 2001.
Gase did a great job with the Bears offense in 2015, helping quarterback Jay Cutler make tremendous strides. He also helped the Denver Broncos offense reach impressive heights with Peyton Manning as the team’s offensive coordinator in 2013 and 2014.
