Boston Bruins fans are used to watching Shawn Thornton punch people. They’re not, however, accustomed to seeing him punch Bruins.
The former Bruin squared off againstĀ a current one for the first time Monday night, dropping the gloves with ex-teammate Adam McQuaid during Boston’s matchup with the Florida Panthers.
The Bruins led 4-1 at the time, and after McQuaid was called for boarding on Logan Shaw, Thornton decided to take matters in his own hands. The two threw a number of rather half-hearted punches before Thornton ultimately prevailed.

Thornton, who spent seven seasons with the Bruins before joining the Panthers in 2014, was given five minutes for fighting, two for instigating and a 10-minute misconduct for his role in the scrap.
