Remember When Holly Holm Knocked Out Ronda Rousey, Shocked The World?

We still can’t believe it happened.

Holly Holm shocked the fighting world at UFC 193 last November when her roundhouse kick to Ronda Rousey’s head knocked out the previously unbeaten UFC women’s bantamweight champion.

Rousey was thought to be invincible — until that vicious kick from Holm created a chink in the ex-champ’s armor that has left her down and out ever since.

Rousey hasn’t competed since that fight, and there’s still no date set for her return.

Holm, meanwhile, fought again in March, but lost her championship belt during her first defense against Miesha Tate, who went on to lose in her first defense earlier this month against Amanda Nunes at UFC 200.

In other words, there’s quite a sticky situation in the UFC women’s bantamweight division: Rousey should get a rematch with Holm, who should get a rematch with Tate, who should get a rematch with Nunes.

Holm, the No. 2 contender, returns to the octagon Saturday night for the first time since losing her belt. She’ll take on No. 7 Valentina Shevchenko at UFC Fight Night Chicago.

A win would bring Holm one step closer to another title shot. Or, at least, a rematch with Rousey.
