It appears the Mets are trying to upgrade their offense in some fashion, whether it’s Bruce or someone else.

The Mets rank 13th among the 15 National League teams with just 381 runs scored, and their .237 batting average is the worst among those clubs.
Bruce is batting .265 with 25 home runs and an NL-leading 80 RBI for the Reds.
