It has been a rough season for the Jacksonville Jaguars.
The team dropped to 2-11 on the season with its 25-16 loss to the Minnesota Vikings on Sunday, and in the loss, the Jaguars committed a penalty that hadn’t been called in 18 years.
The penalty committed was a delay of game … on the kicker. Yes, the team was flagged for a delay of game on the kickoff.
Jaguars just had a delay of game on the kicker…. only in Jacksonville

When looking at the NFL rulebook, it makes sense as to why it has been nearly two decades since the last time the penalty was called. Teams have from the time after a score until the official whistles for the kickoff to take place, and then an additional 25 seconds after that.
It’s clearly a tough feat to accomplish, but it just has been that kind of year for the Jaguars.
