Bruins defenseman Dennis Wideman will not be in the lineup against the Avalanche for Monday's Columbus Day matinee at the Garden. Wideman injured his left shoulder against the Islanders on Saturday and it will force him to miss the final game of the homestand on Monday, The Boston Globe reports.

Wideman fell awkwardly into the boards in the second period of the Bruins' 4-3 shootout win, and he didn't return to the game after the fall.

Wideman was on the ice for a total of 15:57 against the Islanders before injuring his shoulder. He recorded one shot in the game and was an even rating.

Defenseman Johnny Boychuk will make his 2009-10 debut in place of Wideman.
