On Thursday afternoon, the Bruins signed defenseman Matt Bartkowski to an entry-level contract, GM Peter Chiarelli announced.

According to the team website, financial terms of the deal were not disclosed.

Bartkowski, 21, skated in 39 games for Ohio State in 2009-10 and registered six goals (five on power plays) and 12 assists for 18 points, along with 99 PIM. In two full seasons at OSU, Bartkowski played in 80 games and recorded 11 goals and 27 assists for 38 points.

In 2009, the 6-foot-1, 203-pound Pittsburgh native was named a member of the Central Collegiate Hockey Association All-Rookie Team, the first Buckeye to be named to the team in 10 years.

Bartkowski was originally selected by Florida in the seventh round of the 2008 NHL draft. The Bruins acquired him in the trade that brought Dennis Seidenberg to Boston on March 3.
