Red Sox Offense Getting First Taste of Max Scherzer

Tigers pitcher Matt Scherzer — once the Diamondbacks' most prized pitching prospect — has struggled in his first six weeks in the American League, as he's gone 1-3 with a 6.81 ERA.

The 25-year-old now must face the Red Sox, who, for the most part, are unfamiliar with the former NL hurler.

The Sox have just two players — Bill Hall (2-for-3, double) and Jeremy Hermida (1-for-3) — on the current roster with experience against Scherzer. Former NL outfielder Mike Cameron, still on the DL, is a career 2-for-6 against his former NL West foe.

Clay Buchholz is taking on a Tigers' lineup that features just five players on the roster with at-bats against the Sox righty. Miguel Cabreara (.200), Magglio Ordonez (.600), Adam Everett (.200), Gerald Laird (.200) and Johnny Damon (.500) have previously faced the young Sox hurler, while starters Brennan Boesch, Brandon Inge, Austin Jackson, Ramon Santiago and Scott Sizemore have never stepped in against him.

Below are the lineups:
