Dwyane Wade Taking Some Heat For 9/11 Comment in Interview

The Big Three of the Miami Heat have been making headlines lately, but Dwyane Wade’s latest comments have him in some hot water.

In an interview with Fanhouse.com, Wade compared the media’s likely response to the team losing two or three games in a row this season to the World Trade Center coming down.

"We're going to be wearing a bullseye. But that's what you play for," Wade told the website. "We enjoy the bullseye. Plus, there's going to be times when we lose 2-3 games in a row, and it seems like the world has crashed down. You all are going to make it seem like the World Trade is coming down again, but it's not going to be nothing but a couple basketball games. When the schedule comes out, people will be looking for the Lakers and Heat, to see when they play us. I feel like I'm a new player in Miami. That's how excited I am."

According to The Sporting News, the quote is different than what first appeared on the website.

"If we lose a couple in a row this season, it will be like the World Trade (Center) is coming down again," is what was originally reported as being Wade’s words.

The quote that is currently on the site compares the media’s reaction to the September 11 attacks, while the original quote compares losing to the tragedy.

Regardless of which is the more accurate of the two, Wade is under a lot of scrutiny for his decision to reference the attacks in a basketball discussion.
