Red Sox Send Six to All-Star Game, But None in Starting Lineup

Six players will represent the Red Sox in the 2010 All-Star Game, though none of them earned a spot in the starting lineup, determined by fan votes.

Pitchers Clay Buchholz and Jon Lester still could get the nod as the starter, as both were Player Ballot selections.

Dustin Pedroia and Victor Martinez were Player Ballot position players, but due to injury, will not be on the actual game roster. Ian Kinsler of the Rangers and John Buck of the Blue Jays, respectively, will take their spots.

Rounding out the Red Sox selections are DH David Ortiz and third baseman Adrian Beltre, both also Player Ballot position player selections.

The Sox have a chance at a seventh selection if the fan voting for the 34th and final player goes their way. Kevin Youkilis is one of five players who can be voted into the last spot. He is up against the White Sox' Paul Konerko, the Yankees' Nick Swisher, the Twins' Delmon Young and the Rangers' Michael Young.
