The wait appears to be over, as Blake Wheeler reportedly was given a one-year, $2.2 million arbitration award on Thursday.
Both The Boston Globe and Boston Herald reported the numbers.
"It’s pretty much where we expected," Matt Keator, Wheeler's agent, told the Herald. "We came in a little higher and they came in a little lower and it was a fair ruling. It’s a good deal for both sides. There are no winners and no losers."
Wheeler, who turns 24 on Aug. 31, played in all 82 regular-season games last season, scoring 18 goals and picking up 20 assists. He played in 81 games his rookie year, finishing with 21 goals and 24 assists.
