Bruins captain Zdeno Chara is heading into what could be his final season in Black and Gold.

The tall defender, who signed a five-year, $37.5 million deal as a free agent with the Bruins in 2006, is the highest-paid player on the club earning $7.5 million per season.

According to Chara's corner, the game's tallest player won't be rushing to grab an extension with the club any time soon.

Chara’s agent, Matt Keator, told WEEI.com Sunday night that he and Chara are taking a "wait and see" approach, and that there’s "no rush now at all."

The 2008-09 Norris Trophy winner bagged seven goals and 37 assists last season and had a team-high plus-19 rating.
