Former UMass Star Jeromy Miles Makes Headlines With Huge Hit on Tim Tebow

Jeromy Miles, the Cincinnati Bengals' safety from UMass, made some headlines on Sunday.

The 23-year-old rookie laid out Denver's Tim Tebow after the Heisman Trophy winner held onto the ball too long in the fourth quarter of the Broncos' 33-24 loss to the Bengals.

"It felt great," Miles told ESPN of hitting Tebow. "I think he was just locked into his receivers. He probably saw something out there and just never really looked or seen me coming, and I just ran through him."

The huge hit caused Tebow to fumble which allowed defensive end Frostee Rucker to pick up the loose ball and take it 34 yards to the house for a touchdown. However, the Broncos challenged the play and it was ruled an incomplete pass.

"That's one of those situations our protection needs to adjust on the fly and we need to get over there," head coach Josh McDaniels said.

Miles played three seasons at UMass after transferring from Navy following his freshman year. He had 62 total tackles, two forced fumbles and two interceptions in 11 starts as a senior last season. He bagged 104 total tackles and three picks as a junior.
