NEW YORK — Authorities say the girlfriend of Indiana Pacers draft pick Lance Stephenson hit her head on a concrete step when he pushed her down a flight of stairs in New York.
NYPD spokesman Paul Browne said Monday that she was treated for head and neck injuries after a 911 call from her home in Brooklyn.
His comments came a day after Stephenson's arrest on charges of assault, reckless endangerment and menacing.
Pacers president Larry Bird says he is aware of the situation. Stephenson attorney Alberto Ebanks didn't return phone and e-mail messages.
Stephenson was one of the nation's top high school prospects. He played one season at Cincinnati before applying for early entry to the NBA draft.
