It's not going to take long for the Red Sox' fourth-round draft pick Garin Cecchini to make a good impression on the city of Boston and all of New England.

The shortstop signed a deal for $1.31 million in Monday afternoon, part of which he's going to donate to charity in the upcoming Jimmy Fund Radio Telethon according to Baseball America.

Cecchini who was regarded as one of the best hitters in the draft has pledged to donate $20,000 to the Jimmy Fund Radio Telethon that will take place Aug. 19 and 20.

The left-handed hitter fell some in the draft after suffering a knee injury, but has potential to be a special hitter. The Lake Charles, La. native had originally committed to LSU and is projected to be a third baseman at the professional level.
