John Madden has done it all when it comes to the National Football League.
He was inducted into the Hall of Fame.
He co-starred with Pat Summerall.
He shared a booth with Al Michaels.
He developed a video game that is entering its 21st year of circulation.
He even drives a bus.
But that’s not all he’s accomplished.
Madden was more than a commentator who became infamous for his obvious analysis — “I think the team with the best offense and best defense will come out on top today” — establishing himself as a head coach at the young age of 32.
Despite reaching the AFC title game five times in seven years, including a 12-1-1 season, Madden failed to win the Super Bowl until 1977, when he finally captured a title in Super Bowl XI, his second-to-last season as head coach.
