Clay Buchholz Named 2010 BoSox Club Man of the Year
Clay Buchholz has been a front-runner to win the American League ERA crown, but he's already wrapped up one guaranteed award this year — the BoSox Club Man of the Year Award.
Fans know that the 26-year-old Texan has been outstanding on the field, but this award recognizes him for "his cooperation and efforts in community endeavors."
Buchholz will be presented with the award on Wednesday afternoon at the Newton Marriott.
Part of Buchholz's community involvement has included work as the Jimmy Fund co-captain (along with Tim Wakefield) and his participation in the Children's Hospital Celebrity Golf Classic in Fort Myers, Fla.
Past winners include Mike Lowell (2009), Kevin Youkilis (2007), Jason Varitek (2004), Wakefield (1998), Mo Vaughn (1993), Roger Clemens (1992), Wade Boggs (1985), Carl Yastrzemski (1983) and Jerry Remy (1981).
