Jaguars Receiver Kassim Osgood Jumps Out Window After Being Held at Gunpoint

Jacksonville Jaguars wide receiver Kassim Osgood jumped out of a second-floor window Tuesday night after being held at gunpoint.

Osgood, 30, was watching TV with Mackenzie Rae Putnal, a Jaguars cheerleader, at her parents' home when a man with a plastic bag over his head broke in wielding a gun.

The gunman was later revealed as Putnal’s ex-boyfriend, Julian Armond Bartletto, a 20-year-old Jacksonville resident. Bartletto allegedly expressed his disbelief and anger with Putnal’s relationship with Osgood before acting out in violence, according to the Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office.

Bartletto pulled Putnal around the room by the hair as he hit her with the gun. When he let go of her, she ran downstairs and armed herself with her own gun, police said. Putnal carried the gun upstairs where she exchanged errant gunshots with Bartletto. Osgood was unable to help as the gunman had ordered him to sit close by.

As shots were being fired, Osgood jammed the door shut with a chair and jumped out of the second-floor window and ran to a nearby house to call the police.

The police found Bartletto later at his home in Jacksonville and he was arrested and held without bond on charges of aggravated battery, false imprisonment, armed robbery, burglary and violation of an injunction.

Putnal's status hasn't been addressed by the team yet due to a club rule that cheerleaders are forbidden to date players.

Jaguars coach Jack Del Rio commented on Osgood's status but didn’t say much about the situation.

"He's fine," he said Wednesday, according to ESPN.com. "I'm aware of it. I really can't comment on that whole deal. He's doing OK."

Osgood has two receptions for 29 yards this season with the Jaguars, with one touchdown.
