Jose Bautista Sets Blue Jays Record With 48th Home Run Toronto Blue Jays right fielder Jose Bautista established a new team record for home runs in a season when he hit his 48th on Friday night at Fenway Park.

Bautista's two-run blast broke the mark he shared with George Bell, who accomplished the feat in 1987. It came on a 3-2 fastball from Michael Bowden and gave Toronto a 10-2 lead.

The 29-year-old Bautista, who never had more than 16 homers in a season, has hit seven of his 48 against Boston, including three in Fenway Park.
