Red Sox Claim Reliever Matt Fox off Waivers From Twins

Red Sox general manager Theo Epstein never stops wheeling and dealing.

Boston claimed right-handed reliever Matt Fox off waivers from the Twins on Thursday and moved center fielder Mike Cameron to the 60-day disabled list in order to make move for Fox on the 40-man roster.

Fox, 27, made his major league debut on Friday in Minnesota, allowing two runs in 5 2/3 innings against the Rangers.

A 2004 supplemental first-round pick, Fox is 35-28 with a 3.71 ERA in six seasons in the minor leagues.

Cameron, who was placed on the 15-day DL with a lower abdominal strain on Aug. 2, hit .259 with four home runs and 15 RBIs in 48 games in his first year with the Red Sox.
