Charlie Davies Loses License for Triple-Digit Speeding Nearly One Year After Fatal Crash

Charlie Davis nearly died in a car accident in the early hours of October 13, 2009. In fact, that accident was fatal — as while Davies escaped with just a lacerated bladder and broken bones, another passenger in car wasn’t so lucky.

Now, nearly one year later, Davies decided to celebrate the near anniversary of the accident by driving 190 km/h in France this past weekend.

The former Boston College soccer star had his license confiscated when he was caught doing so.

Davies, who was an integral part of Team USA’s 2009 run to the finals of the Confederations Cup, has not played for his professional team, FC Sochaux, since the car crash, and his rehabilitation has been going more slowly than expected. He had been hoping to miraculously get himself into shape for the 2010 World Cup, but now will likely not be match fit until January.

The person who loaned Davies the Audi Q7 that he was driving has reportedly taken it back.
