Ever wonder what happens to all the food that goes unsold at sporting events? Well the food that goes unsold at NHL games is going to start going to a very worthwhile place.

That's because the NHL and Rock and Wrap It Up! are teaming up to help give back to those in need by donating unused concession food to local shelters and food banks in each of the NHL's 30 cities.

Rock and Wrap It Up! (RWU) was started in 1991 and its mission is to provide food to the hungry by re-packaging unused food from concerts, sporting events and schools to give to those in need. RWU has fed more than 500 million people since its inception.

"I am extremely proud that every one of our 30 clubs will help combat hunger this season by teamming up with Rock and Wrap It Up!," said NHL commissioner Gary Bettman. "Our players and clubs are dedicated to serving their local communities and this our league-wide pledge to be responsible stewards of our planet."
