This week's season-ending injury to safety Jim Leonhard has apparently left the New York Jets in low spirits heading into their pivotal Monday matchup against the New England Patriots.
Luckily, it has also opened up a roster spot, and as a result, the team is set to re-sign long-time receiver Laveranues Coles for his inspirational presence, according to ESPN.com. The Jets veteran was with the team when they last won at Foxboro in 2006 and 2008.
"In the airport on the way to New Jersey. I get to be a Jet for a weekend," wrote Coles on his Facebook page.
Coles has not played this season after being cut by the Jets this preseason, but Rex Ryan had said that he would like to bring the receiver back.
Still, Coles is not expected to dress this week. The 33-year-old has caught 49 touchdowns over the course of his NFL career.
