There’s a ton of uncertainty surrounding the Liverpool Football Club at this point. One thing is for certain, though. Kenny Dalglish could be in the club’s long-term plans heading forward.

When Dalglish replaced embattled manager Roy Hodgson last week, it was unknown whether or not Dalglish would be sticking around for the long term, but the club announced Monday he is a possibility.

When asked what the club will be looking for in a long-term replacement at manager, LFC director of football strategy Damien Comolli was upfront with what they’re looking for, while also admitting Dalglish will be considered for the job.

“Competence will be the first thing,” Comolli said. “Someone who will fit into the club philosophy and playing philosophy. Man-management is huge. Those are the three things that will be most important to the club.

“It’s honestly open to people who we think fit into what I’ve described. Obviously Kenny will come into this category because he has exactly what I’ve described.”

Dalglish added, “My understanding is it’s until the end of the season and that’s no problem for me.”

He also made light of the uncertainty that comes with not only managing Liverpool, but also holding the position for any club in the Premier League.

“If I can get until the end of the season then I’ll probably be one of the longest serving managers in the Premiership anyway.”
