Report: Brad Penny Agrees to One-Year Deal With Tigers
The 32-year-old righty agreed to a one-year deal with the Tigers, according to ESPN.com's Buster Olney.
Penny's season ended early last year due to a back injury, after he made just nine starts for the St. Louis Cardinals. He posted a respectable 3.23 ERA, but he didn't pitch once after May 21.
In his 11-season career with the Marlins, Dodgers, Red Sox, Giants and Cardinals, Penny is 108-88 with a 4.11 ERA in 284 starts. His best season came in 2007, when he went 16-4 with a 3.03 ERA for the Dodgers. Since then, though, he is 20-22 with a 5.01 ERA.
