Edgar Renteria could be joining a former Boston teammate for the 2011 season.

According to ESPN.com, Renteria signed a one-year contract with the Cincinnati Reds on Thursday. The deal is reportedly worth $3 million with an incentives package.

Renteria would be joining former teammate Bronson Arroyo in Cincinnati. Arroyo has spent the past five seasons pitching for the Reds, and signed a two-year contract worth $23.5 million in early December. Renteria and Arroyo played together in Boston during the 2005 season.

The shortstop is coming off a championship season with the San Francisco Giants, where he was named World Series MVP. In November, the Giants declined to pick up Renteria's $9.5 million option, but later offered him a $1 million deal, which he declined.

Renteria will likely replace Orlando Cabrera on the Reds' roster. Cabrera was granted free agency by the Reds in November.
