Report: Nuggets, Knicks, Timberwolves Discussing Trade That Would Send Carmelo Anthony to New York

Carmelo Anthony could be getting closer to becoming a member of the Knicks.

ESPN.com reported a potential three-team trade — involving the Denver Nuggets, Minnesota Timberwolves and New York Knicks — that would send Anthony to the Knicks before the NBA's Feb. 24 trade deadline.

In the current trade proposal, the Knicks would send Anthony Randolph and Eddy Curry to Minnesota, which would then send Corey Brewer and a first-round pick to Denver. The Nuggets would also receive Wilson Chandler from New York, league sources indicated to ESPN.

While these are the names that are currently being thrown around in discussion, other players could be added to the deal to see that it goes through.

Denver and New York have been going back and forth on trade proposals for a couple of weeks, and this Carmelo deal is not expected to happen until the middle of next week at the earliest.

It is well-known that Anthony wants to play in New York. In the current trade proposal, he would receive a contract extension for three years worth $65 million.

League sources have said that Knicks owner James Dolan has been pressing team president Donnie Walsh to trade for Anthony before the deadline rather than waiting until he becomes a free agent after the season.

There has been previous mention of potential multiple-team deals before, with all eventually falling through.
