Lou Gorman Responsible for Shaping Red Sox Franchise During His Tenure as General Manager

Lou Gorman may be gone, but he will not be forgotten. 

Gorman passed away on Friday at his Weston, Mass. home, after a long battle with illness. 

The former Red Sox GM was responsible for many moves that led to the improbable 1986 World Series run, like the acquisition of Dave Henderson and Spike Owen, and was a part of the organization for the 2004 championship. 

During the early stages of Gorman's tenure as GM, the Red Sox enjoyed success as Roger Clemens, Wade Boggs, Don Baylor, Dwight Evans and Bob Stanley helped push the Sox to the brink of a championship. 

The Red Sox' farm system flourished during Gorman's tenure, as it produced many productive players like Mo Vaughan, Scott Hatteberg, Mike Greenwell, John Valentin and Aaron Sele.  

Gorman leaves behind a long-standing legacy as one of the more memorable figures in Red Sox history, as his local roots helped him build a franchise of which the fans could be proud. Check out a few photos from Gorman's days with the Sox at the gallery link below.
