Donald Trump Cancels Indy 500 Appearance, Allowing Him to Make Announcement Regarding Presidential Bid Because what the world needs now is more Donald Trump.

A week after the billionaire led the charge to get President Barack Obama to reveal his birth certificate, and less than a week after he was roasted at the White House correspondents dinner and less than a week after his nonsense was shifted to the back burner after the death of Osama bin Laden, The Donald wants to be back in the news.

And of all the avenues he could have chosen, he's going with auto racing.

Trump was scheduled to drive the pace car for the Indianapolis 500 on May 29, but he's canceling, according to The Associated Press. The reason? He says he may be announcing that he'll run for president in 2012 before then, and he feels driving the pace car would be "inappropriate."

So to recap: Publicly questioning the American citizenship and academic records of the president is fine, but driving a car around a 2.5-mile track is crossing the line. Sure thing, Don.
