Midfielder Jay Spearing has been with Liverpool since he was 7 years old, and now, the 22-year-old figures to be around for a few more years.

Spearing signed a contract extension with the club on Friday. After making the first club earlier this year, he's impressed in his eight appearances.

"He's certainly reached a higher level than he has done before," manager Kenny Dalglish said, according to LFC.tv. "We're delighted with what he's done and he's a great asset for us to have."

Spearing was "buzzing" after signing the deal.

"I've been here for a long time, and playing for Liverpool is all I have ever wanted to do, so hopefully I can keep going now," he said. "With the new boss coming in and the way we have been playing and with me getting some game time, it has been a good couple of months and this has topped it off for me."
