Tyler Seguin burst onto the playoff scene in his first two games this postseason, but has yet to record a point in the seven games since. With a physical Cup Final underway, head coach Claude Julien elected to dress enforcer Shawn Thornton for Game 3 in place of the rookie Seguin.

Thornton, who hasn't played since Game 2 of the Eastern Conference Final against the Tampa Bay Lightning, should provide some added toughness and energy the Bruins' fourth line. It's been a much more physical series than many have anticipated, so going with Thornton seemed inevitable.

Thornton received a standing ovation upon taking the ice for the first time.

The physicality picked up early in Game 3 when Nathan Horton was hit hard in the middle of the ice and left on a stretcher.
