What's Your Favorite Canadian City to Visit? With the Red Sox in the midst of a three-game set with the Toronto Blue Jays, it's a good time to think about the professional sports teams that reside in Canada. It's also a good time, also, to consider what each of those cities has to offer its visitors.

Toronto, home of the Blue Jays, Raptors and Maple Leafs, is the provincial capital of Ontario and the largest Canadian city. Located on the shore of Lake Ontario, Toronto is the fifth most populous city in North America, with 2.5 million residents. Only Mexico City, New York City, Los Angeles and Chicago have greater populations.

The city's most prominent landmark is the CN Tower, which was once the world's tallest free-standing structure.

Calgary, meanwhile, is the largest city in the Province of Alberta, Canada.

Home of the NHL's Flames, Calgary also hosted the 1988 Winter Olympics and is a major tourist spot for winter sports enthusiasts. It's also the home of the Calgary Tower and the Scotiabank Saddledome.

Montreal is home of the NHL's Canadiens. But beyond the rivalry that Boston has with the city's hockey franchise, Montreal is a unique tourist destination.

The largest city in the Province of Quebec and the second-largest city in Canada, Montreal is also the second-largest primarily French-speaking city in the world — behind only Paris.

And then there's Vancouver. While a trip there from New England requires a relatively long flight — just ask the Bruins — the city also gives its visitors much to be pleased about.

Located on the water in British Columbia, Vancouver's beautiful nature scenery is the reason that tourism is the city's second-largest industry.

Home of the Canucks and the 2010 Winter Olympics, Vancouver, like Calgary, offers plenty of winter sporting options. The city also boasts one of Canada's most beautiful skylines.

But these, of course, are only a few of the beautiful cities that Canada has to offer.
