Peyton Manning Undergoes Another Neck Surgery, Could Miss Entire Season

The rumors of Peyton Manning needing more surgery that surfaced Wednesday night were confirmed on Thursday afternoon, as the Colts' quarterback underwent a single level anterior fusion, the team announced.

ESPN.com's Chris Mortensen reports that the Colts' quarterback's status for the season is unclear.

Mortensen's report says that as many as six doctors advised for the procedure.

The team said that there is no estimation for any return for Manning, but he will remain on the active roster until the team has a "clearer picture of his recovery process."

With Manning out for the Colts' season opener this week, thereby ending his consecutive starts streak at 227 games (regular season and playoffs). With Brett Favre's streak ending last season, Peyton Manning's absence Sunday will make his brother, Eli Manning, the active leader with 110 straight starts. The second-longest active streak will be that of Philip Rivers, who has started 87 straight games.
