Richard L. Pearson Named New Associate Executive Director of MIAA, MSSAA

The Massachusetts Interscholastic Athletic Association and the Massachusetts Secondary Schools Administrators’ Association have announced their newest associate executive director.  Richard L. Pearson will take over the position in June, replacing former associate executive director William N. Gaine Jr., who is retiring from the position.

Pearson, who is currently the principal of Medway High School, has been an active member of the MIAA, which regulates and promotes educational athletics throughout the state.

Serving on numerous committees, Pearson has worked on the Tournament Management Committee and Lacrosse Committee. Pearson currently acts as Chair of the District C Athletic Committee.

In a release, Executive Director Richard F. Neal spoke strongly of the work Pearson has done for the MIAA.

“Richard has been an active member of our two associations for many years and is well informed on the mission, responsibilities and operations of both organizations,” said Neal. “The fact that his peers elected him to serve as MSSAA president this year is testimony to the respect he has among the educational community as a leader.”

Pearson will replace Gaine Jr., who has had the title of associate executive director since 1994. Gaine Jr. will retire on June 30.

Since he has been named principal in 2004, Pearson has been a big factor for Medway High School, helping in the construction of a new school. He had previously been the assistant principal of Foxboro High School from 2000-04.
