Jack Jablonski’s Benilde-St. Margaret High School Team Wins Minnesota State Championship

Jack Jablonski's emotional story just added another chapter.

The star sophomore for Benilde-St. Margaret High School in Minnesota tragically was paralyzed after crashing into the boards in a game earlier this season. His team played on, however, and on Sunday captured the Class 2A championship in Minnesota on Sunday with a stunning 5-1 win.

Junior forward Grant Besse scored all five goals — three of them short-handed — to lead the Red Knights to victory. In movie script fashion, Benilde-St. Margaret won their final nine games of the year and after the win the players were obviously emotional.

"It was an amazing experience," Besse told the Pioneer Press. "It's tough to describe."

Jablonski was in attendance at the game, but wasn't allowed to participate in the on-ice celebration due to insurance issues. However, the team is looking into getting him a championship medal.
