Report: Charlie Adam Out for Season With Damaged Knee LigamentsCharlie Adam limped off the field during the first half Liverpool's March 21 game against Queens Park Rangers. The LFC midfielder damaged knee ligaments, which will keep him out of action for the rest of the 2011-12 season, according to the Guardian.

"Liverpool's season has suffered another blow with the news that Charlie Adam will miss the rest of the season with lateral knee ligament damage," the report says.

The 26-year-old was stretching to reach a pass, and collided with QPR defender Armand Traore. His knee buckled with the contact, and Adam got the worst of the collision.

If the report is accurate, it closes the books on Adam's first season at Anfield. He moved to LFC from Blackpool in a £7 million ($11.1 million) transfer last summer. The Scottish grafter was an ever-present part of the midfield, and turned in some encouraging performances early in the season.

But his form gradually declined after Lucas Leiva suffered a season-ending injury in late November. Adam will look to improve on his return of two goals from 35 games in future campaigns, but it seems recovery is the first order of business.

With Adam out of the lineup, Jordan Henderson and Jonjo Shelvey will likely see their minutes increase in the back end of the season.
