Mike Aviles’ Hot Start, Aaron Cook Could Be Among Key Factors for Red Sox in May

The first month of the season has been full of ups and downs for the Red Sox.

After getting demolished by the Rangers and Yankees in the same week, the team has seemingly turned it around with consecutive wins against Minnesota. But baseball is a long season and April is just one month.

With so much baseball ahead, Boston has a lot to think about in terms of roster moves. Daisuke Matsuzaka continues his rehabilitation from Tommy John surgery, and could vie for a spot in the rotation. Of course, he'll have to compete with Aaron Cook, who has been lights out in the minors.

And in the lineup, Marlon Byrd has made an impact out of the gate after being traded from Chicago. Meanwhile, Mike Aviles has been a star in the leadoff spot, making many fans wonder whether Jacoby Ellsbury will return to the top of the order when he finishes rehabbing a subluxed shoulder.

Only one month has passed and the Red Sox already have so many questions to answer. Thankfully, NESN.com Red Sox reporter Didier Morais is on the case. He took all of these questions and more on Wednesday.
