This year’s series marks the 19th time that Boston and Philadelphia have met in the playoffs, with the Celtics winning 11 of the previous 18 series. Entering the current postseason showdown, the Celtics were 51-41 against Philly in the playoffs, while holding a 237-176 record against the franchise in their regular season meetings.
Some of the playoff affairs have proved to be more memorable than others, but we’ve seen some wild moments involving the two teams throughout numerous decades.
The 1950s saw Wilt Chamberlain versus Bill Russell, the 1960s saw John Havlicek‘s wizardry, and the 1970s and 1980s saw the emergence of Julius “Dr. J” Erving and Larry Bird. Now, we’re seeing The Big Three of Paul Pierce, Kevin Garnett and Ray Allen try to rally for one more title run against a younger, more athletic Philadelphia squad.
All of this mayhem has led to some great games, so we’ve put together a list of the 10 best. Enjoy, but remember, this list could be added to any day.
