Mike Aviles Gets Night Off As Red Sox Take on Ubaldo Jimenez, Indians at Fenway Park

The Red Sox have played 31 games this season, and shortstop Mike Aviles has appeared in 30 of them. He'll get a rare night off — at least to start — on Friday night at Fenway Park.

Aviles is not in the starting lineup to open things on Friday, when the Sox take on the Cleveland Indians in the second of a four-game series. Nick Punto will instead occupy short, batting ninth.

Punto and the rest of the Red Sox will take on Cleveland starter Ubaldo Jimenez. The former Colorado right-hander is 3-2 this season with a 4.04 ERA.

Daniel Nava gets the start in left field for the second night in a row. He has two hits in three career at-bats against Jimenez.
