Who Will Be the Next Pitcher to Throw a No-Hitter?With Johan Santana‘s 134-pitch no-hitter on Friday night, there have now been more no-hitters thrown this season (three) then there have been months played (two).

Dating back to the beginning of the 2008 season, 16 no-hitters have been thrown in the past four and a half seasons.

Consequently, the question becomes not if another no-hitter will be thrown this season — but when and by whom.

Will it be Justin Verlander, who has authored two career no-hitters already and narrowly missed out on a third two weeks ago? CC Sabathia seems a smart pick, having been as consistently dominant as anyone over the past several years.

Maybe the next no-no will come from reigning National League Cy Young winner Clayton Kershaw, who took the pitching Triple Crown in that league last year. It could be also be Stephen Strasburg, who many say has the best stuff in the major leagues and looks to be showing no ill effects from Tommy John surgery.

A few other notable names have already accomplished the feat and are surely looking to do it again, including  Matt Garza and Jon Lester (as well as Roy Halladay and Jered Weaver, but they’re both injured right now). Only one, however, can throw the next no-no.
