Amid the chaos that took place at Chase Field on Saturday, Canadian coach and former major league All-Star Larry Walker emerged as a peacekeeper.
Mexico and Canada came to blows during their World Baseball Classic clash, and things really got ugly. Both sides threw punches, which immediately increased the risk of injury.
Walker tried to restore order, though, first by grabbing Mexico pitcher Alfredo Aceves, who had been wrestled to the ground during the scrum. Soon after, Walker’s attention turned to Mexico first baseman Adrian Gonzalez, who is one of Major League Baseball’s biggest stars.
“You’re too important to the game,” Walker reportedly told Gonzalez.

It’s good to see that even in the heat of battle, Walker opted for the high road. Then again, given the class with which he conducted himself during his playing days, it’s not really all that surprising.
