Joe Flacco was going to get his money one way or another, and the Baltimore Ravens finally agreed to give it to him.
Flacco, who was slated to hit free agency on March 12, has agreed to a new long-term contract with the Ravens, according to Jay Glazer of Fox Sports. The deal will reportedly make him the highest-paid quarterback in NFL history as well, according to ESPN’s Adam Schefter.

The Ravens have even confirmed that the deal is in place, according to the team’s Twitter feed, which usually wouldn’t take place until after a player actually signs.

Sealing the deal now means avoiding hitting Flacco with the franchise tag before Monday’s deadline, and will allow the Ravens to utilize that tag on one of their other big free agents, if they so desire.
Flacco played near perfect football this postseason, throwing 11 touchdowns and zero interceptions, while leading the Ravens to a Super Bowl victory. The epic playoff performance earned Flacco endless praise, even from his former doubters, and was asking for nearly $20 million per season for his efforts.
The terms of the contract have not yet been revealed, but you can be sure he’ll make somewhere at least close to that $20 million range.
