Texas wide receiver Mike Davis delivered what some around the sports blogosphere are calling the “cheap shot of the year” Thursday night, diving at the knees of Iowa State defensive back Deon Broomfield near the goal line with the ball nowhere in sight.
Davis was penalized on the play, but many questioned whether he should have been ejected or even suspended for the low blow. He took to Twitter to defend himself Friday afternoon, saying that he thought a wide receiver screen was called and blocked accordingly.
