There’s nothing better than free food, right?
Well, that’s what people will get if they attend the Kansas State women’s basketball game against Tennessee State on Friday. Students who arrive early enough will be treated to free bacon.
How much bacon does K-State plan to prepare for this giveaway? According to ESPN’s business reporter Darren Rovell, the school will use 300 pounds of the delicious meat on Friday. That’s a lot of calories. Rovell also tweets that it will be served in a “boat of bacon,” which makes me hungry just thinking about it.
Giving away free bacon to persuade people to attend a women’s basketball game is one of the most creative promotional strategies we will see in 2013, and it will be interesting to see if more schools follow the Wildcats’ lead and stage similar promotions for sporting events.
