The New England Patriots reportedly worked out South Carolina quarterback Connor Shaw at Newberry College in South Carolina on Wednesday, according to reports.
Shaw developed a winning reputation during his college career with the Gamecocks, whose membership in the South Eastern Conference — considered by many to be the best in college football — only give his numbers more merit.
The quarterback had a tremendous season in 2013, throwing for 2,447 yards, 24 touchdowns and only one interception. The Patriots are in the market for a new backup quarterback, as Ryan Mallet will be a free agent in 2015.
The Patriots have met with several quarterbacks during the offseason, including Teddy Bridgewater, Johnny Manziel and AJ McCarron.
