The Chicago Blackhawks appeared to be headed for a Game 2 victory in the Western Conference finals before the Los Angeles Kings took control by scoring four goals in a 10:45 span that started late in the second period.
The Kings ended up scoring six unanswered goals in a 6-2 victory that evened the series 1-1.
Jeff Carter led the way for Los Angeles with a third-period hat trick. It’s the first third-period hat trick by a player in a road playoff game since Mark Messier’s famous Game 6 performance in the 1994 Eastern Conference finals, when he guaranteed his New York Rangers would beat the rival New Jersey Devils to force a Game 7.
