Mo’Ne Davis Becomes First Girl To Throw LLWS Shutout, Strikes Out Eight

Philadelphia Taney Dragons ace Mo’Ne Davis continued her dominance of Little League opponents Friday, hurling a two-hit shutout in the Little League World Series to beat Nashville 4-0, per CBS Sports.

Davis struck out eight and didn’t walk a single batter, becoming the first female to throw a shutout in Little League World Series history.

She is the 18th girl out of nearly 9,000 players in the tournament’s history and has gone the distance in two straight starts, the last one being an 8-0 victory over the Newark, Del., team in the Mid-Atlantic Regional championship.

In fact, the 13-year-old has pitched so well that she’s earned the respect of some MLB players.

Davis also had this to say about her pitching after Friday’s game.

Davis and the Pennsylvania team will take the field again Sunday at 7 p.m. ET.

Luckily for the next team they draw — either Rhode Island or Texas — she won’t be able to pitch.
