Are you a New England Patriots season ticket holder with an extra $3,000 to spare? If so, the team hasĀ a plan for you.
The Patriots sent out brochures to fans this week revealing plans for an exclusive field-level lounge, via The Boston Globe. The future Optum Field Lounge will be located behind the south end zone, in the place of 1,500 seats.
The lounge — which is available to current season ticket holders in good standing — will be home to a climate-controlled space with upscale food, a swanky bar and HD televisions. There will also be an outdoor terrace right behind the end zone.
āThis is intended to be an exclusive amenity for season ticket members,ā Jennifer Ferron, Patriots senior vice president of marketing and brand development, said, per The Globe. āWe have an outdoor stadium, so we thought we would afford them a way to enjoy the game in all types of weather.ā
But that enjoyment will come at a hefty price. One membership costs $1,500 on top of the price of season tickets, and members are required to buy two. However, a three-year membershipĀ costs $1,250 per year. The season ticket holders whose seats are being demolished will get first opportunity to buyĀ memberships, but understandably,Ā many of those fans are none too pleased with the new plan.
āMost of those seats were season ticket-holder seats, so weāre not taking away low-priced inventory and replacing it with high-priced inventory,ā Ferron told The Globe. āAnyone who was impacted by this move was offered the opportunity to upgrade their tickets or move to a different section of stadium at a lower price point.ā
Construction of the Optum Field Lounge is set to beginĀ at the end of the Patriots’ season and scheduled to finish in July.
