Peyton Manning doesn’t often find himself on the injury report. He landed there Saturday, though.
Manning was listed on the Denver Broncos’ final injury report before they face the Cincinnati Bengals on “Monday Night Football” with a thigh injury. However, there’s really no reason to believe Manning won’t be under center Monday night.
Manning practiced all week and took first-team reps at Saturday’s practice. However, the 38-year-old is dealing with the thigh injury and actually missed some time last Sunday against the San Diego Chargers. He went to the locker room shortly before halftime, but the quarterback returned to start the second half. He’s also been battling the flu.
The Broncos currently are 11-3 and riding a four-game winning streak. They still have an outside chance of getting home-field advantage in the AFC, but they need to win out and have the New England Patriots lose one of their remaining two games.
Manning’s status for Monday is an eyebrow-raiser, but just about everyone expects No. 18 to play. Sorry, Brock Osweiler.
